Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities www.treoaz.org Tucson Regional Economic Opportunities, Inc. (TREO) is a non-profit organization which facilitates the creation, retention, expansion or recruitment of high-quality jobs to Southern Arizona. TREO officially became operational on July 1, 2005.
TREO directly supports business growth. Its mission is to assist in the development of high-quality employment opportunities through local business retention, expansion and related programs.
The Empowerment Zone administered by TREO provides tax incentives to businesses that reside in the ZONE and/or employed persons living in the ZONE. The tax incentives benefit businesses by lowering taxes. They also help employees by making them more desirable hires for businesses.
TREO also assists the Arizona Department of Commerce in implementing several programs within the City of Tucson or Southern Arizona. They include:
-The AZBusinessLINC.Com program to create more local purchasing opportunities for small to medium sized companies in Southern Arizona. -The Enterprise Zone program providing incentives to qualified businesses that create new job opportunities. -The Foreign Trade Zone program providing federal and state tax benefits to businesses that are operating as importers and/or exporters. -The Arizona Job Training Program helping qualified businesses obtain state job training grants.
